Recommended Preparation by Members for the Boiler Test Events.

Preparation by Member for Boiler Hydraulic Test Against 2008 Blue Book (revised 2006 Red Book)
All of the following should be carried out prior to presenting your engine to the boiler testers.
If possible complete your own test at home before the club test.
Make sure that the boiler pressure gauge can be isolated during the test.
Make sure that the boiler pressure gauge can be calibrated, on or off the engine.
Whichever way is used the fitting must have a 1/8" BSP male fitting on the boiler or gauge
to suit the boiler testers pressure test kit. You might have to make a suitable fitting.
The boiler must have a 1/8" BSP male fitting to suit the boiler tester's pressure test kit.
Make sure that the safety valves can be isolated, removed and the connection blanked, or
gagged for the test.
If the boiler has been stored wet with concentration of corrosion inhibitor greater than the
recommended minimum the boiler should be drained and refilled, excluding all air, with the
recommended minimum concentration of corrosion inhibitor. (This is to avoid drainage of
excessively dosed water onto the test site during draining off some of the boiler water prior
to raising steam.)
Bring last year's boiler test certificate and record card with you.
Members must present their "paid up" membership card.
